For whom is this programme?

The program is intended as an additional course. The course is available undergraduate and masters who have already received their diplomas or are studying on an undergraduate or master programme.

The course is in demand among professionals such as:

  • experts and heads of patent licensing services, Intellectual Property departments, other corporate departments; research, engineering, production, and other enterprises; technological parks, business incubators; consulting, auditing, legal, and patent firms; appraisal organizations, financial-industrial groups, innovation funds, banks and other organizations
  • officers and employees of ministries and departments, in particular of law enforcement authorities, the Ministry of Defence, the tax inspectorate, courts, prosecutors, customs, Federal Property Management Agency, universities, system of additional qualification, colleges, and high schools
  • creative workers (journalists, writers, filmmakers, etc.) and guilds (filmmakers, cameramen, etc.), copyright societies, associations of inventors and innovators, etc.​

The purpose of this program is to prepare highly qualified specialists for the following activities:

  • patent and information support for businesses, research, and development
  • conducting patent research
  • applications for title registration for protection of inventions, utility models, industrial designs, trademarks, service marks, indications, and appellations of origin
  • value assessment of intellectual property
  • implementation of domestic and international licensing operations
  • development of investment projects and business plans with the use of intellectual property (hereinafter – IP)
  • protection of state interests in the field of Intellectual Property Rights (Customs Service, the arbitral tribunal, etc.)
  • evaluating and ensuring competitiveness of products and services
  • identifying and providing conditions for unimpeded commercialization of industrial products and transfer of IP rights
  • patentability assessment of scientific and technological achievements
  • examination of technical objects for infringement
  • protection of interests of legal entities and individuals from violations of their IP rights in the form of suppression of unlawful acts

  • implementation of foreign patenting procedures
  • promotion of IP
  • negotiating with domestic and foreign companies on the transfer of IP rights; other results of creative activity and conclusion of license and copyright agreements

A special feature of the program at the Institute of International Business and Law of ITMO University is to attract teachers and leading practitioners of the country, in particular the patent attorneys of the Russian Federation – members of the board of the St. Petersburg College for Patent Attorneys as well as lawyers, appraisers, and other professionals.

The unique composition of the teachers and practitioners in the program allows students to gain knowledge and skills that can not be acquired in any other university in Russia.

Program in the field of intellectual property for the additional qualification "Specialist in the Field of Intellectual Property"

The program is designed for people to obtain additional qualifications. Those qualifications are available to individuals who have mastered the program and already graduated from higher education institution, or currently studying (undergraduate and masters).
Duration of the program is 1 year.
Tuition fee: 95 000 rubles *(payment per Module)
* letters of recommendation by the St. Petersburg Patent Bar provide a 10% discount
for students, individuals who have already graduated and staff of IMBIP are offered a 15% discount
for students, individuals who have already graduated and staff of other structures of ITMO are offereda 15% discount
