Description

Department of World Economy and International Economic Relations carries out educational and research activities in the field of foreign economic relations, international technical, scientific and technological cooperation, innovation in the world economy. Particular attention is paid to the problems of state regulation of international innovational, scientific and technological cooperation, learning from experience of advanced countries about innovation development, customs tariff and non-tariff trade regulation of military-technological and innovation goods, trade issues of intellectual property, etc.

Cooperation with universities of Italy, Canada, France, the United States in research and scientific publications, development of joint programs for the exchange of teachers and students.

Employment after Graduation

The department established cooperation with state and private enterprises in St Petersburg.

Since 2010, the educational programs of IMBIP issue the Certificate of quality customs education WCO – Graduated & Master.

We are the first in Russia and the second in the world, who got such recognition from the WCO (World Customs Organization). A certificate that proves the quality of specialist and master customs programs by international standard of the WCO. All graduates of the IMBIP of ITMO University have ‘WCO Programs’ stamped on it, which is a confirmation of the highest rank for a specialist degree, as well as a masters, and is recognized by all the countries within the WCO.

Master programs in:

The boundaries of the modern national business are in constant expansion. Globalization leads to companies being eager to sell their products not only in Russia but also abroad; and foreign goods, in turn, represent a growing interest for the Russian consumer. In this situation, the customs business – significant industry for the economy; and customs broker – an indispensable partner of major companies focused on import-export operations. The entire modern business world tends to work quickly, efficiently and without complications, especially given the financial state of the world economy.

Customs  is a set of methods and tools for its implementation, related to the effective control of the customs and tariff regulation of foreign trade activity of enterprises and countries. Specialist in customs has a broad outlook and professional skills for the organization of international business. His portfolio of competencies includes traditional and innovative technologies accounting for the presence and movement of goods and vehicles on the Russian communications; international practice remote contracting and monitoring of cargo flows; economy and near-customs customs activities; modern management methods; tactical and technical methods of crime investigation and review of breaches of customs regulations; civil and criminal material, procedural law; rules and methods of protection of state and official secrets.

Preparation of competent professionals in the field of customs and logistics, on one hand, meets the needs of the time, and on the other – gives young people skills and knowledge, using which they can get the job done, including the public service; live life to the fullest and not feel alienated and frustrated. The implementation of a mandatory training program for graduate provided highly qualified teaching staff with education and experience in teaching and practice, corresponding to the profile of disciplines. Among the members of the department, there are higher school employees and current employees of the Federal Customs Service. Students graduate in the specialty 036401 Customs with the following specializations: Customs Management and Information Technology in Customs.

The department provides educational, scientific, methodological and educational work in the following disciplines:

Experienced professors with experience in business and leading research and research centers of the North-West region read the courses.

The department carries out scientific research on a wide range of issues, the results of which are published in a number of monographs, articles in journals included in the list of WAC; textbooks, and manuals. Teachers are actively involved in international and Russian scientific conferences.

System of the educational process organization at the department includes lecture courses with computer presentations, practical exercises based on the structures of the FCS, computer testing as a form of self-study for students.

Description

The department has sufficient experience in educational and research activity in the re-training for customs authorities, as well as the extensive links in the field of foreign economic activity, management with companies and institutions of the city and the region. At the Department of Commodity and Commodity Nomenclature more than 200 people have successfully passed professional training and professional development since 2008. The department also provides training in full-time education in the specialty "Customs" and the second high education.

A regular client of the department for training of specialists is the North-West Customs Administration. Training is also available with tuition fees.. The learning process is carried out by qualified teachers, including doctors and candidates of sciences. Staff of the department includes professors (Doctor of Science), three associate professors (PhD), and senior practitioners. The Department has  3 specialists from different universities of St Petersburg and SZTU. All have academic degrees and titles.

The department provides educational, scientific, methodological and educational work in the following disciplines:

For all taught courses, the Department of Commodity and Commodity Nomenclature has prepared teaching aids, laboratory practices, and written and published books (including those approved by the Ministry of Education and Science).

Teachers are involved in the preparation and carrying out of scientific conferences.

The department carries out scientific research on a wide range of issues, the results of which are published in a number of monographs and articles in journals included in the list of WAC, textbooks and manuals. Teachers are actively involved in international and Russian scientific conferences.

Organization system of the educational process includes lecture courses from compulsory computer presentations, workshops, and computer testing as a form of students self-study.

Extensive experience of the department lets not only to gain ground in training in the specialty Customs, but also to promote new and modern quality control technology goods in customs.

The Department produces comprehensive studies in corporate business strategy, financial and operational management, financial strategy, budget, and management control experts in the field of foreign trade.

The Department provides educational, scientific and methodological work in the following disciplines:

Courses reveal new approach to financial management, business strategy and its assessment with which theoretical knowledge and practical skills for effective utilization of financial instruments in professional activities are achieved.

Learning process includes lectures with computer presentations, workshops, business games, the control computer testing, seminars with representatives of leading research centers, financial management and tax services of the North-West region. Much attention is paid to the Department of independent students’ work and the development of their scientific potential through participation in student research conferences and various competitions.

The process of educating graduate and master students is provided by highly qualified teaching staff with experience in teaching and practice, corresponding to the profile of courses. Among the members of the department are current employees of the financial and credit sectors. Our team created an optimal combination of experience, professionalism, theoretical and practical knowledge and skills.

Teachers of the department conduct research work, successfully solve urgent and complex interdisciplinary problems in economics, receive innovative results over a wide range of problems.

The results are used for publishing monographs and articles in journals, teaching and learning guide books. Teachers of the department are actively involved in international and Russian conferences.
